Immigration

immigration Now that the country has health care reform, the next big issue to tackle is immigration. On Sunday, March 21st, thousands of demonstrators rallied on the National Mall in Washington DC and marched through the streets of the capital Sunday, waving American flags and holding homemade signs in English and Spanish.  Cardinal Roger Mahoney of Los Angeles led morning mass at St. Alyosius Church.  He and the Rev. Jesse Jackson, were among the key-note speakers, who called for Congress to act this year on a bipartisan bill that would grant legal status to millions of illegal immigrants.

In February, the JPIC Office joined “Justice for Immigrants” in a postcard campaign to urge our legislators to support these measures.  If you haven’t filled one out yet, please contact the office, or visit the Justice for Immigrants website.
